THE CARBINER
Unforgettable Presentation
Carbine Club Tasmania World Cup Luncheon 14.10.22
Imagine calling a game of soccer and at the end of the match having no memory of what just happened in front of you. That's the reality for former Socceroo Captain Paul Wade who was the guest speaker at the Carbine Club Tasmania World Cup Luncheon.
'Wadey' who has worked as a commentator for Sky, SBS & Chanel 7 suffers from epilepsy, and has to work hard to commit information to memory following brain surgery he had in order to stop seizures.
During his inspirational presentation to a packed room at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania, Paul recounted highlights from his professional career, prompted by a large number of shirts he had worn or swapped with opposition players. As he produced each of the international playing strips, he told a story relating to the game, player or team involved.
The most treasured top was the Argentinean national shirt worn by the legendary Diego Maradona, who was Paul's opponent on two occasions.
Guests were able to have Paul sign free Soccer Balls which were provided by Carbine Club Tasmania member Mike Davey who also did a great job as the MC.
